For months, no years, my wife has been asking for a robotic vacuum. She does most of the house work and I do most of the fixing. I have followed the progress of the Roomba and decided to have another in depth look at the reviews and how it performed to date. What follows is NOT a Roomba/Neato comparison. Very efficient & effective robot
I really like this robotic vacuum. It cleans a ridiculous amount of pet hair and dust from my carpet! I used a Roomba, which was fairly good but the drawback was it couldn't navigate to other rooms and back as well as the Neato does. The other drawback was it couldn't figure out how to get onto area carpets without the spinning brush on the front getting stuck. For the Neato, this is no problem at all. Instead of bouncing all around looking for light houses it will detect doorways and move from room to room in a more logical fashion.The suction and cleaning ability is amazing. I would place the suction power closer to an actual upright vacuum. The noise level is a bit quieter than an upright and maybe a little louder than the whine of a Roomba. There is significantly less bumping, which overall, makes the Neato quieter. It still bumps into things (mostly table legs) from time to time but nowhere near as hard or as frequent.Battery life is adequate. About an...

Neato is better than Roomba - I have had 6 different Roombas so I know
I have had the Neato vacuum robot for a few weeks now and I am just now getting the time to write a review. I don't write reviews for everything I buy just the things I think people need to be warned about or things I think people should really buy.Compared to RoombasI have owned 6 different Roombas starting with the original red one. The thing about Roombas is they don't really know where they are or where they are going they just start going and when they come to a wall or furniture they change course. They travel in a pattern that is designed to cover the whole room but is some cases where there is an odd shaped room or furniture in the room they can end up going around in the same spot and not covering all areas evenly. Also the pattern that is left on the carpet looks like someone gave a monkey a vacuum and let it loose as there are lines going everywhere. The most awesome cleaning appliance ever!
This machine is my new best friend! It is friggin amazing. I received it for Christmas and if I had known how much it cost I probably would not have taken it out of the box! Thank goodness I did because it is worth every penny! It is so smart, doesn't get stuck in tight spaces, goes under my bed for all the dust bunnies. It talks to me via its LCD screen. Only thing I have to do is pick up where I want it to clean and let it go. When it needs to be charged it goes back and docks itself and then returns where it left off! So, so cool! Thank you for the technology. My life just got a little easier, because of this product!

Don't throw out your swiffers or brooms just yet
I purchased this via Woot on impulse a month ago after I had just gotten a bonus at work. Basically, my idea was to try something like this before spending a lot of money on maid service (between the cost of day care and ordering in food more often and the maid service, maybe it would be better if I just stay at home, no?).If my Neato were a maid, I would fire him (I haven't named him but I've decided he's a he, probably because I am being reverse-sexist) due to these CONS:- He misses spots near corners and along edges (walls or low furniture).- He can't handle getting everything under the dining room table (has trouble getting around all the chair legs)- He has trouble transitioning from wood to high pile carpet (extra cushy carpet in our daughter's room). I was a bit skeptical when I purchased the Neato, my husband even more skeptical to the point of almost demanding on the spot that I return it before I even ran it through the house. Likes to climb
Anyone who's used a Roomba knows it just wanders aimlessly until it decides the room is clean. Short of spinning in a little circle when it detects dirt, it forgets everything as soon as it encounters it. In that aspect, the Neato is a great upgrade. It maps out each room as it goes, and carefully covers each area exactly once. Perhaps the best demonstration of it's navigation abilities is when it finished and returns to the dock. It just shuts off the vacuum and takes the shortest path through multiple rooms straight to the dock.The only place where the Neato doesn't fare as well as the Roomba is when it hits obstacles it can't see. To start with, the bumper seems to ride a little higher than the Roomba, so I had trouble with the Neato getting stuck in the bases of a couple chairs. I've had this vacuum for two months now, and it was well worth the purchase. I didn't expect it to clean every little nook and cranny of my home, but so far it has been doing a very good job. I have several drop offs, in our house, so the Roomba was not working out on the main level of our home.However just after two months I had the left side wheel fail to operate and parts along with a spring came out. I call customer support and a new robot was suppose to be shipped out. After a week and a half no robot and I called back again. I was told that the robot was no back order and as soon as a new one could be shipped out it would get shipped out.

Perfect replacement filters
Filter is an important part of vacuum system and it needs to be replaced often. But the price at the big name stores was out of sight.You're always taking a bit of a chance buying aftermarket replacement parts that aren't manufactured by the same company. These filters fit our Neato vacuum cleaner just fine.We had thought we were being diligent in cleaning out the old filter after every time we vacuumed, but when we popped in this replacement, it was like the vacuum was brand new again.Great product at a great price and fast delivery!
